It's Miller Time at Montgomery MotorSports Park

Pro ET Winner Harley Miller |
(May 1, 2006) -- Montgomery (AL) racer Harley Miller says it has been
about two years since he visited the Montgomery MotorSports Park winner's
circle, but he did it in style Saturday (4/29), winning the Pro ET event in
a final over former track champ Kenny Gray of Opelika (AL). Miller took his
"Breakout" 1969 Camaro to a win with a 6.061 run on his 6.04 dial at 112.05
miles per hour. Gray powered his "Mr. Big Block" 1987 Woody rear-engine
dragster to a 5.398 run on a 5.37 dial at 127.70 miles per hour in a losing
effort. Prattville (AL) racer Andy Finley and Jason Cahoon of Millbrook (AL)
were the semi-finalists.

Footbrake winner Billy Belcher |
In the Footbrake final, veteran racer Billy Belcher of Dadeville (AL)
defeated Danny Moore of Prattville (AL). Belcher drove his '72 Chevy El
Camino to a 7.097 run on a 7.08 dial at 91.25 miles per hour. Moore's
Chevy S-10 left the starting line dialed at 6.10 but fell off to a 6.148
run at 112.10 miles per hour. Montgomery's Lee Pratt and Sylacauga (AL)
racer Chris Wood were the semi-finalists.

Motorcycle Class winner Josh

In the new 1/4 mile MMP motorcycle class, hometown hero Josh Whitson
came out on top as he took his R6 Yamaha to a win in the finals over Drew
Su of Wetumpka. Both racers dialed an 11.0 quarter mile with Josh running
an 11.22 at 122.98 miles per hour. Drew's run in the finals was 11.693 at
125.92 mph. Jo Jo Jones of Wetumpka was the semi-finalist.
MMP will host its next bracket wars program on Saturday (5/6) with gates
opening at 4pm, time trials at 5pm and Round One eliminations at 7pm. In
addition, the track is open for Test and Tune every Friday from 7pm -
11:30pm where any licensed driver can run their car, truck or motorcycle
on the MMP track as much as they want during that time for only $10.
