In the Footbrake class, old pro Lowell Bowen of Millerville, AL took
the win over Tyler, Alabama racer Darryl Driggers. Bowen's classic '55
Chevy ran a 7.178 ion his 7.14 dial at 87.28 miles per hour for the
win. Driggers dialed a 7.53 but his '71 Nova fell off to a 7.583 at
88.31 miles per hour in a losing cause.
Preparations are already
underway for this weekend's (4/22-23) Capital City Nationals, which
could net one racer a $22,000 payday, including a free entry into the
Super Bowl of big bucks bracket drag racing, the Bill Taylor
Engineering Million Dollar Drag Race.
Pro ET racers will shoot for a $10,000 payday each day and, if
there are 200 Pro cars, George will hold a drawing for a FREE entry
into the BTE Million Dollar Drag Race, a $2,000 value. Car+Driver
weekend entry $200 ($150 1-day entry). Pro runner-up $2,000, Semis
$500, 3rd round winners get $100 round money.
Footbrakers will gun for $1,000 to win each day and race for FREE,
paying only a $30 weekend spectator admission. Footbrake runner-up
$300, Semis $100, 1/4 $50, 1/8 $25.
